The Monolith in 2001: A Space Odyssey is a street view from above, stretching from an eastern point of beginning to a western point of end. It shows life in all its stages, from its origin to its extinction.
The Monolith is a street, avenue: a long, dark shape, view from above, taking the form of a monolith. From the ground, it is a long road, leading toward the horizon; view from above, it takes the shape of a single, geometric form. The change in perspective transforms the same road into the Monolith.

Two Life Perspectives.
Its two defining moments mirror the human condition: beginning and end, marked by the Sun rising on one end of the street (the Monolith) and setting on the other.
For humanity, the Monolith represents the Street of Life: birth, aging, emergence, and decline. “Space” refers to the environment in which a person exists.
The Monolith (the Street) and two major astronomical events of DVAVIDA - the beginning of summer, marked by sunrise (1st. March), on the eastern side, and the end of summer, marked by sunset (1st. September), on the western side - together form a visual hexagram and Six-pointed star of DVAVIDA.
